Autism Inclusion Matters chooses Makerble to coordinate and evaluate its local services

Find out why an autistic-led charity that runs everything from Dungeons & Dragons events to family meets and drop-in advice sessions has chosen Makerble as their operational and evaluation partner.

We're delighted to welcome AIM (Autism Inclusion Matters Isle of Wight) to Makerble.

AIM is an autistic-led charity based on the Isle of Wight, organised, run and supported by autistic adults. They provide a wide range of meets, workshops and activities for autistic people across all ages. Their provision is vast and includes family meets for children aged four and up, Dungeons & Dragons events, quiz nights, Lego and puzzle sessions, chill meets and social groups for adults. They also run drop-in information and advice sessions, online workshops for families and carers, as well as a free Sensory Library. Their service is open to anyone who is autistic, going through the assessment process, considering getting a diagnosis or self-identifies as autistic.

Why the system had to work differently

Something thatbecame clear early on in conversations with AIM's was that for an organisation serving autistic people, the design of every touchpoint is critical. Any unnecessary steps in a booking process or form that asks for information someone has already given can become a barrier that prevents a person from accessing a service they need.

AIM was looking for a platform that could reduce that friction rather than add to it. Makerble's combination of embeddable sign-up forms, self check-in for drop-in attendance, automated reminders before and after sessions, as well as a centralised contact record that tracks each person's journey across every service they engage with, gives AIM all the tools they need in one place.

What AIM will be using Makerble for

AIM will be using Makerble to

  • manage registrations and attendance across their full range of meets and workshops
  • record drop-in attendances and link them to existing contact records over time
  • track individual participant journeys across all their services
  • collect wellbeing data through surveys
  • send automated session reminders
  • report on the difference their work makes across the whole programme

The impact reporting is just as important as the operational side. AIM advocates on behalf of the autistic community so being able to evidence people's lived experience and demonstrate the impact of their work is part of how they ensure autistic people's voices are not just heard, but listened to.

We're very glad to be supporting AIM as they grow, and we're looking forward to seeing what the new hub becomes.

AIM is based on the Isle of Wight and is an umbrella organisation of People Matter IW (Charity No: 1150937). You can find out more about their work at aimisleofwight.co.uk.
